Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects Padonmar Soap Factory in Paung Township

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by members of the council Admiral Tin Aung San, General Maung Maung Kyaw, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Manh Nyein Maung, Dr Banya Aung Moe and Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, union ministers Dr Nyunt Pe, Dr Thet Khaing Win, U Shwe Lay, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Chairman of Mon State Administration Council U Zaw Lin Tun, Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko Maung and officials, inspected Padonmar Soap Factory (Paung Township) owned by Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Company Ltd in Thephyugone Village in Paung Township in Mon State this evening.

First, the Senior General and party were welcomed by Chairman Lt-Gen San Oo of the MEHPCL and officials at the meeting hall of the factory and heard reports on production of bathing soap and laundry soap and operations of the factory and manufacturing vehicles in Indagaw Vehicle Assembly Plant under the SKD and CKD systems presented by Lt-Gen San Oo.

After hearing the reports, the Senior General said it is necessary to substitute imports with local products by fulfilling the soap need of the country as much as possible and to manufacture quality products at cheaper prices in accordance with the motto “Products of the same qualities must be cheaper and products of the same prices must be of higher quality”, to take consistent measures to manufacture quality soap and to fulfil the soap need of the country to a certain percentage.

Then, the Senior General and party viewed round and cakes of soap manufactured at the factory in comparison with other soap in the market, operations of the factory and attended to the needs before presenting cash rewards for factory staff.

The factory was built in 2002 with the aim of generating job opportunities for families of war veterans and local residents, to help people use soap at cheaper prices and to fulfill the need of household products at home.

The factory has been producing bathing and laundry soap of various container sizes and scents under the Padonmar brand and distributing it in the market at reasonable prices.
