More than 50 shiploads of goods transported from Bhamo to Mandalay

More than 50 shiploads of furniture and consumer products are daily transported from Bhamo Port to Mandalay, according to Chairman U Win Maung of Mandalay Region Private Vessel Supervisory Committee.

As the navigation route in the Ayeyawady is smooth at present, the tonnage of goods transported to Mandalay Port from Yangon, Monywa, Katha, Shwegu and Bhamo has increased while foodstuffs and consumer products from Man-dalay to other towns have risen in volume.

As strong winds and dark clouds are possible at present due to sudden changes in weather, it is necessary for ships to navigate carefully by studying navigation signs in the river and on the banks, he suggested.

Previously, only about 20 shiploads of goods were tran-sported from Bhamo to Mandalay, but the transported goods from Bhamo to Mandalay increased in volume in July due to smooth navigation routes.

The number of ships transporting goods from other towns to Mandalay have also increased to about 30 vessels.
