Statement on Ceasefire and Perpetual Peace

1.       The Tatmadaw formed the State Administration Council and is carrying out improvement of multiple sectors such as political, economic and social affairs of the State with might and main by adopting five future programmes and nine objectives. As the mission to accomplish process of perpetual peace is a must for the State, the Tatmadaw has ceased military operations to implement the peace process with ethnic armed organizations.

2.       The SAC is striving to enable EAOs to continue the peace dialogue till the perpetual peace is totally achieved, for the smoothness and success of the peace process, to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 in time as the number of confirmed cases is rising in Myanmar amidst the surge in infection rate of the variant of COVID-19. As the SAC is striving to prevent and contain the virus together with international organizations including the UN and internal social organizations, the Tatmadaw will further cease all military operations from 1 August to 30 September 2021 across the nation except the period when security and administrative machinery of the government in addition to State defence and administrative measures are encroached on, for the successful implementation of the abovementioned endeavours.

3.       All the relevant organizations must exert collective efforts to make more effective use of the period the Tatmadaw has further halted all military operations to restore perpetual peace through negotiations.
