Suspension of some bus services extended until 1 August

As public holidays have been extended until 1 August to prevent the spread of  COVID-19, some bus lines have suspended their services during  the period, according to Yangon Region Transport Committee(YRTC).

Only a few bus lines are pro-viding services for people who have to go outside during the third wave of the pandemic. First, it was announced that bus services will be suspended from 17 to 15 July.

However,  the  government extended the public holidays until 1 August. Therefore, some bus lines will suspend their services until 1 August.

Before the holiday, more than 3,000 buses were in operation to transport about 500,000 pa-ssengers. During the holidays, only about 60 bus lines are in operation to transport about 100,000 people.

The YRTC has taken mea-sures to ensure that passengers can take buses in accor-dance with COVID-19 restric-tions. Passengers are required to wear masks and hand gel is arranged for them. Buses are sprayed with chlorine at the end of each trip. The YRTC has given necessary in-structions to bus companies.
