Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Vice-Senior General Soe Win receives special envoy of UNSG on Myanmar through video conferencing

Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win received Ms. Christine Schraner Burgener, the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary General on Myanmar, through video conferencing.

The Vice-Senior General held detailed discussions on situations of pre-election and post-election periods and detailed situation after declaring the State of Emergency, holding of coordination in accord with provisions of the Constitution (2008) and election law and rules of the Union Election Commission, undertaking of process, releasing of information and holding of press conference in accordance with existing laws and rules, reporting, informing and releasing information by the Tatmadaw step by step such as submission of the report to UEC for solving over 10.4 million overlapped voting list in a transparent manner, response of the UEC, rejection of the Hluttaw Speaker over the proposal signed by 25 percent of Hluttaw representatives to convene the special session of Hluttaw during the term of Second Hluttaw, rejection of the President Office over the report to call the National Defence and Security Council of the State, preparations for calling the session of the Third Hluttaw, and bilaterally talked about unclear points.

Both sides focused on process of undertakings in accord with the Constitution (2008) on 1 February, formation of the State Administration Council and formation of State and Region Administration Councils, Self-Administered Zone and Division Administration Body, district and township administration body respectively.

As the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary General on Myanmar asked further information and unclear points, the Vice-Senior General talked about necessary discussions, and the meeting came to an end.

Moreover, the soft copy of statement on stance of the Tatmadaw, press conference and interviews of the Tatmadaw Information Team was sent to the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary General on Myanmar.
