AA terrorists ambush vessels with loads of iron frames, construction materials for Paletwa Bridge Project

AA terrorists on 29 November and today ambushed the vessels driving along Kaladan River course to transport iron frames and construction materials to be used at Paletwa Bridge Project.

Six vessels carrying iron frames and construction materials to be used at Paletwa Bridge Project which left Shwemingan Port in Sittway on 29 November morning drove along Sittway-Kyauktaw-Paletwa route. On arrival at the place, some 9,500 metres east of Kanzauk Village, AA terrorists taking separate positions from the east of the river ambushed the vessels with the use of heavy and small arms. As naval vessels which escorted the transport vessels fired as counter-attacks, the terrorists retreated from the place. In the incident, some parts of damage happened at the vessel and some officers and other ranks were injured.

The vessels carrying iron frames and construction materials under escort of war vessels left Kyauktaw in the evening for Paletwa. On arrival at the place, 4,000 metres northwest of Meewa Village this early morning, AA terrorists taking separate positions on the western bank of river ambushed the vessels  again with the use of heavy and small arms, so war vessels on security duty carried out counter-attacks against them. In the incident, the vessel was damaged at some parts, and some officers and other ranks injured.

 

With attempt to deteriorate regional development tasks and Paletwa Bridge Project, AA terrorists opened fire at a vessel which carried construction materials with the use of small arms to set fire it on 16 March and ambushed the vessels with the loads of iron frames and construction materials on 21 November. As those terrorists committed destructive acts again, making attempts to deteriorate regional development tasks and peace and stability, security forces are discharging regional security duties.
