Naypyitaw February 4

Tatmadaw troops while conducting patrol in Rakhine State’s  Kyauktaw Township discovered  two remote-detonated mines  measuring four inches in diameter  and four inches in height planted by AA terrorists on the right side of Yangon-Sittwe motor road  near Kisspanadi Bridge at 6.45 am on 3 February.  Mine clearance troops deactivated the mines for the safety of travellers and local residents.

AA terrorists, in order to disrupt transportation for travellers and local residents, have been planting and detonating mines on motor roads. They remotely detonated mines, set fire to and carried out shooting on vehicles near Yay Soe Village on 2 February, 2019; near Yoe Tayoke Village on August 29; the ICRC relief aid convoy on 27 June near Kyaukkyet Village in Kyauktaw Township; and near Me Let Maung Village on 20  January, 2020. Tatmadaw troops and Myanmar Police Force are therefore conducting necessary security works for transportation safety of local residents, and have so far cleared 30 mines in 19 cases along Yangon-Sittwe motor Road in Rakhine State.
