Antivirus spraying began in Mandalay on 21 March 2020 as a precaution against COVID-19, according to U Khin Aung, head of Markets and Slaughtering Houses Department of Mandalay City Development Committee (MCDC).
The Ministry of Health and Sports has been issuing information and knowledge in connection with the COVID-19 that is occurring in various parts of the world. MCDC has been spraying antivirus agents daily at the markets where foodstuffs and personal goods are sold as a preventive measure against the virus since 21 this month.
“We started using antivirus sprays at the two major markets in Manda-lay on 21 March. We will continue to spray the remaining markets of the city in the coming days. We will spray disinfectant in all the mar-kets,” assured U Khin Aung.
The department put into use the antivirus spray at Konseinzaytan (night) market on 41st Street in Thanhletmaw West Ward, Maha Aungmyay Township of the city on 21, and the temporary Mingala market today. Other relevant bodies are also joining hands with the Markets and Slaughtering Houses Department of Mandalay City Development Committee in the antivirus spraying task.
The department in cooperation with other relevant bodies will continue spraying antivirus in the six townships – Aungmyay Thazan,
Chanmyathazi, Pyigyitagon, Chan-ayethazan, Amarapura and Maha Aungmyay townships –in the city municipal area.
