Tatmadaw True News Information Team meets media  at press conference

On behalf of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team, Secretary Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun met media to hold a press conference at the Defence Services Museum, here, this afternoon, and replied to queries raised by media.

Before the press conference, officials of the Directorate of Medical Services of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) checked body temperature of those attendees as part of taking preventive measures of COVID-19. Then, they all took the positions in designated distance and systematically asked questions.

First, Secretary of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained progress in arrangements for building a sitting Buddha image in Bhumi Phassa Mudra in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, which will be carved from a marble rock excavated from the marble hill near Sagyin Village of Madaya Township in Mandalay Region, and the trip of Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to attend the Parade to mark 75th Anniversary Victory Day of Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) to be held in the Russian Federation at the invitation of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation. The Secretary said that the delegation during its trip took Russian citizens in Myanmar facing difficulties to return to the Russian Federation due to outbreak of COVID-19. Sitagu Sayadaw and the Tatmadaw cooperated with each other in taking back Myanmar citizens in Nepal and members of the Sangha and laypersons from Bodh Gaya in India. The Tatmadaw is undertaking the tasks of land plots in accord with the procedures of releasing and handover of confiscated lands and the policies adopted by the farmland and other land confiscation re-scrutiny central committee. The Tatmadaw joining hands with the people amid difficulties transported rations and supplies to prevent COVID-19 donated by Chin State government and well-wishers for local people, departmental personnel and internally displaced persons in Paletwa area. Servicemen and families from the local military unit donated rice from their rations. As efforts are being made to strengthen Matupi-Hsamee-Paletwa road for development of Paletwa area, Tatmadaw members are taking security measures and regional development tasks. Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Company Limited and Myanmar Economic Corporation are focusing on welfare of servicemen and families and contribution to economic development of the State. The Secretary then replied to queries raised by media.

The press conference was also attended by 35 reporters from local news agencies, daily newspapers, journals, local TV broadcasting units and local-based foreign news agencies, totalling 22.
