A helicopter temporarily landed on a grazing ground between Sitaung and Yaykhaungchaung villages in Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State at about 11 am today.
The Mi-8-MTV-1 type helicopter, with registration No/Call Sgn: 9N-AHT, from Nepal was on its way to Indonesia where it would help extinguish a forest fire there. Due to bad weather, the helicopter made an emergency landing. It has already applied official permission for entering Myanmar airspace and making a stopover at Yangon International Airport during its Bangladesh-Yangon-Thailand tour at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar through the Indonesian Embassy.
As the weather returned to normal, the helicopter left the place and arrived at Sittwe Airport at about 11.50 am. The minister of Security and Border Affairs of Rakhine State and officials met with the crew and provided necessary assistance.
