Vice-Senior General Soe Win receives guard-of-honour welcome accorded by Deputy Chief of General Staff Department of Lao People’s Armed Forces, Ministry of National Defence of Laos, holds talks, calls on Lao Minister of National Defence

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, who is on a goodwill tour in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (LPDR) was accorded a guard-of-honour welcome by Major General Pasith THIENGTHAM, Deputy Chief of General Staff Department of Lao People’s Armed Forces, Ministry of National Defence of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, at  the Ministry  of National Defence  of  LPDR in Vientiane this morning.

Present on the occasion together with the Vice-Senior General were senior military officers of the Office of  the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Myanmar Ambassador to Laos U Ko Ko Naing, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Kyaw Soe Min. Major General Pasith THIENGTHAM was accompanied by officials of Ministry of National Defence of Laos.

After taking the salute of the Guard of Honour, the Vice-Senior General inspected it together with Major General Pasith THIENG-THAM, followed by bilateral intro- duction of the senior military officers of both countries. Group photos were then taken.

Afterwards, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and Major General Pasith THIENGTHAM met at the meeting hall of the Ministry of National Defence of Laos.

They discussed further cementing of historic friendship and cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries, continued implementation of the provisions of the MoU, cooperation between the two armed forces in border security, anti-drug and prevention of human trafficking and cooperation between the two armed forces in formal education, culture and sports.

After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General and the Lao Deputy Chief of General Staff  Department of  Lao People’s  Armed Forces exchanged emblems and gifts and posed for documentary photos.

The Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by the Vice-Senior General, accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador U Ko Ko Naing, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Kyaw Soe Min and officials visited the Unknown Soldiers’ Monument in Vientiane and laid wreaths there.

The Vice-Senior General visited the Lao Ministry of National Defence and called on Minister of National Defence General Chansamone CHANYALATH at the parlour of the ministry.  

Also present at the meeting together with the Vice-Senior General were senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Myanmar Ambassador to Laos U Ko Ko Naing, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Kyaw Soe Min and officials.

Both sides discussed cooperation between the two armed forces, border peace and security and ensuring good results from holding discussions between experts in industrial and economic fields. They exchanged emblems and gifts and posed for documentary photo.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, currently in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, had the dinner hosted by Major General Pasith THIENGTHAM and his wife at Lao Plaza Hotel Grand Ballroom in Vientiane this evening.

First, the Vice-Senior General and party were welcomed by the Deputy Chief of General Staff  Department of  Lao People’s Armed Forces and his wife. They then exchanged greetings and they had the dinner together with the attendees. During the dinner, the cultural troupe of the Lao People’s Armed Forces performed songs and dances.

After the dinner, the Vice-Senior General and his wife and the Deputy Chief of General Staff  Department of Lao People’s Armed Forces and his wife exchanged gifts and presented flower baskets to the cultural troupes and posed for group photo.
