Families of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) hold Maha Kathina robe offering ceremony

Families of the offices and de-partments under the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held the Maha Kathina robe offering ceremony at Thukhi-tayama Kyitaung YwaU Monastery in Kyitaung Village, Zeyathiri Township, this morning. On behalf of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Com-mander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win attended the ceremony and presented Kathina robes and offertories.

The ceremony was graced by Mingala Zeyon Pali Tekkatho Monastery Presiding Nayaka Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi and members of the Sangha totalling 54.

First, the Vice-Senior General and wife and the congregation viewed round the Kathina robes, offertories and Padethabins to be donated to respective monasteries.

The Vice-Senior General and wife offered oil lights, water, fruits and rice in an emerald bowl to the Buddha image in the monastery.

Then, the ceremony started with three-time recitation of NamoTassa by the Sayadaw, members of the Sangha and the congregation led by the Vice-Senior General and wife. Zeyathiri Township Sangha Nayakja Committee (Shwegyin) Chairman Yezin KanU Monastery Presiding Nayaka Maha Ganthava-caka Pandita Bhaddanta Vilasa (Sasana Dhaja Dhammacariya) Maha Htaymyat Sayadaw admini-stered the Nine Precepts, and the members of the Sangha recited Parittas. 

On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe offered Kathina robe and alms toThukhita-yama Kyitaung YwaU Sayadaw U Kheminda and offerings to Presiding Nayaka of Mingala Zeyon Pali Tekkatho Monastery of Pyinmana Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi.

The Union Minister for Home Affairs, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Union Minister for Border Affairs, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air), and village elders from Kyitaung Village donated Kathina robes and offertories to members of the Sangha. Afterwards, Sayadaw Bhaddanta Jagara from Khawma Ywa U  Monastery in Zeyathiri Township and Sayadaw Bhaddanta Gandhama from Sibingyi Monastery held the Kathina question and answer session.

The congregation took a sermon delivered by Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi and shared merits gained for all donations.

After the ceremony, the Vice-Senior General and wife performed the rituals of golden  and silver showers in commemoration of the successful completion of the Maha Kathina robe offering ceremony and offered day meals to members of the Sangha.

Village elders from Kyitaung Village, local people and guests were served with lunch at the pavilion.

At today’s families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) Maha Kathina robe offering ceremony, offices and departments donated 54 Padethabins more than Ks- 34.6 million and people from Kyitaung Village six Pade-thabins worth more than Ks-2.9 million and served over 2,600 guests with meals worth more than Ks-21.6 million, totally amounting to over Ks-59.1 million. On 7 November morning, these 54 Padethabins were conveyed to Thukhitayama Kyitaung Ywa U Monastery. This evening, these Padethabins were conveyed from Thukhitayama Kyitaung YwaU Monastery to respective monasteries.
