Preparations made for attracting local and foreign travellers to Kanbawzathadi Palace, Shwemawdaw Pagoda in Bago

Bago Region Government issued the press release in making preparations for the Kanbawzathadi Palace and the Shwe-maw Daw Pagoda in Bago to be able to attract local and foreign travellers.

Kanbawazathadi Palace is located in Nandawya Ward, near the southern archway of Shwemaw-daw Pagoda. It is on 64 acres of land. The palace was built with ancient teak posts, portraits of three Myanmar kings and three palaces, ancient objects excavated from the palace, Thihathana Throne, royal equipment and facilitated with internet access and more than 1,000 fiction and non-fiction books at the mobile library and entertainment for visitors.

Some 200,000 international travellers paid visits to the palace before COVID-19 as well as over 600,000 local travellers visited there. Likewise, Shwemawdaw Pagoda was thronged with local and foreign pilgrims and travellers on a daily basis.

Ancient objects excavated from the palace area will be displayed at the separate museum. Likewise, Shwemawdaw Pagoda will be installed with an elevator for the convenience of travellers. Other facilities will be given to the travellers with placing of tiles on the platform of the pagoda, construction of toilets, supply of electricity, renovation of the museum, and a way for those with disabilities.
