Press release on efforts to arrest CRPH, NUG and PDF terrorists committing terror acts residing near Laykaekaw Myothit, Htimewakhee and Mehtawthalay

The Tatmadaw has been striving for restoring the perpetual peace by abiding by the NCA provisions since its signing the NCA on 15 October 2015. The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services has expressed his attitude that “the Tatmadaw will strictly adhere to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) in making efforts to restore the perpetual peace the State and the people aspire”. Moreover, the peace is prioritized and being implemented in the five-point roadmap and nine objectives of the State Administration Council. However, some ethnic armed organizations taking advantages of current political situation are violating the NCA through various ways and means.

A larger strength led by Baw Kyaw He from KNU Brigade-5 committed the surprised attacks on Htimuhta camp where the Tatmadaw took the operation and regional control measures near Thanlwin River of Kayin State on 27 March 2021. In the incident, some officers/other ranks were dead and injured. On 27 and 28 April and 3 June, a large number of strength from KNU Brigade-5 attacked Dahkwin camp where a military column of the Tatmadaw took a position but they retreated from the scene with many casualties. Moreover, some members of KNU Brigade-1 attacked Kyathaungseik camp on 17 December. The Tatmadaw temporarily left the camp with some injuries of officer/other ranks but the Tatmadaw reoccupied the camp. Likewise, some members of KNU Brigade - 1 and Brigade-5 committed blowing up of mines and ambushed attacks on the sending of vaccines for prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 for local people and government staff in Papun Township. Hence, the military columns are taking security measures in the regions for soonest arrivals of vaccines for the local people and government personnel.

Some brigades and regiments from KNU took cash assistance from some big countries wishing to interfere in internal affairs of Myanmar and NGOs and INGOs which support CRPH, NUG and PDF terrorists by neglecting the terror acts which happen across the nation under the title of humanitarian and give terror acts and explosive training to terrorists from CRPH and PDF and provide arms and ammunition to these terrorists through various ways and means. Such information was received from the the majority of local people who do not wish to accept the terrorist acts for their life to flee from their houses and not wishing to hear the noisy shooting and bomb blasts.

In so doing, there have been 3,751 times of terror acts in some cities from 1 February to date. As security forces controlled the situation and arrested 1,492 terrorists and seized 133 assorted arms, 1,693 rounds of ammunition, 28 grenades, 217 homemade mines and other explosive materials. In exposing the terror acts, the security forces arrested 9,958 terrorists and seized 3,417 arms and ammunition, 161,500 rounds of ammunition, 647 grenades, 6,895 homemade mines and other explosive materials in time.

According to the exposing some terror acts and information which happened in Yangon and other major cities, terrorists from Laykaekaw Myothit in Kayin State transported arms and ammunition to Yangon, Bago, Mawlamyine, Taungoo and Pyay through various ways and means.

The Tatmadaw frankly and officially urged KNU/KNLA officials to abide by the agreements of NCA and supervise their subordinates for many times. According to other information, some leaders wishing to resume internal conflicts in Kayin State which has restored peace took cash assistance abroad derailing from the NCA route at the regular and emergency meetings of KNU support NUG and PDF terrorists behind them to pose coercion on the existing government.

On 1 February, the Tatmadaw unavoidably took the State responsibilities and then, the armed organization admitted those wishing to do the terror acts in consequence of the riots of NLD extremists which happened in some cities and set an aim to cause the armed conflicts leading to the utter devastation of the State with the expectation to get the cash assistance from some big countries. The government focusing on peace of the State severally informed the KNU officials about avoiding the admission to terrorists with maintaining the peace, emphasizing the regional stability and stopping the terror acts through the National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee (NSPNC). The Tatmadaw and the departments related to EAO informed the KNU about so for many times. However, some KNU brigades and some junior leaders neglected the negotiation and admitted the PDF terrorists at Laykaekaw Myothit which is a symbol of the peace. And, they give explosive training to those terrorists and support terror acts across the nation. As such, the information on exposing and arresting the terrorists was sent to KNU/KNLA officials in advance. The operation started on 14 December 2021.

In so doing, the security forces performed searching in Laykaekaw Myothit under the law and seized two ex-MPs from NUG terrorists and 21 PDF and CDMers together with seven guns. On 15 December when the security forces performed searching, some JNU troops including some leaders wishing to destroy NCA, NUG and PDF terrorists started attacks. Security forces including officers and other ranks from the Tatmadaw were dead and injured and some were abducted.

Hence, as part of self-defence activities, the Tatmadaw used the limited strength to combat the some leaders and troops of KNU, NUG and PDF terrorists as of 15 December 2021. The terrorist groups organized their strengths to commit the counter attacks to the military columns day and night.

In line with the prescribed rule of engagement, the Tatmadaw added reinforcement took the air and artillery supporting fire to attack the enemy targets. After happening 25 times of clashes, the Tatmadaw has been controlling Htimewakhee, Mehtawthalay, Ingyinmyaing, Minletpan and Phalu villages where terrorists took positions except Laykaekaw Myothit on 28 December. In the events, some dead bodies and 19 assorted arms, ammunition and guns under making process were seized from terrorists.

As it was known that innocent people fled into other country due to fighting, Thai-Myanmar border committees are making arrangements to hold the negotiation to soonest resettlement of those people in their native villages.

The Tatmadaw is implementing the roadmap as the important task for the perpetual peace during the state of emergency and following the provisions of the NCA. As such, the government will continue its efforts for taking security measures for life and property of the people and ensuring peace and stability of the nation. And,all ethnic people wishing to see the peace in Kayin State and the entire nation are urged to cooperate with the Tatmadaw in restoring regional peace.
