The nation has the tradition of presenting honorary titles and medals on significant days.

Independence can be lost in a while, but our forefathers had to overcome numerous difficulties and sacrifice lots of lives, blood and sweat for over 100 years to restore it. The country was able to regain independence with firm resolution, full of courage and unity under the leadership of National Leader General Aung San.

The independence and sovereignty regained is the heart of all Myanmar nationals.

It is necessary to emphasize that all national races are to cohesively implement the national objectives laid down for  Independence Day with solidarity to ensure the perpetual existence of the Independence regained with the sacrificed efforts of national leaders and ancestors. Therefore, it is urged that the duty to make the sovereign nation developed, stable and peaceful is the duty of all Myanmar nationals.

In carrying out all-round nation-building tasks to be a stable, peaceful and developed nation, it is mainly important for all the nationals to cooperate in taking the duties of security, peacefulness and rule of law of the State in unison though the government is to play a leading role in taking those duties. It is a good tradition to honour the persons who made significant performance in the interests of the State and people with a sense of nationalism better than others.

As per the recommendation by the scrutiny team to present the medals and awards to those, who outstandingly discharge duties with a strong sense of sacrifice and honourable form of adventure, in accordance with the laws on awards and medals, such a ceremony to honour them was held.

This year, 31 persons will be presented the awards: one order of Thayay Sithu award; 10 orders Sithu; one Thura medal; 17 Zeya Kyawhtin medals and two Wunna Kyawhtin medals.

Such awards of honour are a record to be honoured for achieving success in valiantly discharging duties in the interests of the State and people with mental and physical abilities.

It is also a symbol of their performance and ability tested by the State in their course of overcoming difficulties in a tough life. It is an honourable moment for relatives of the people who could not attend this ceremony themselves, and I, on behalf of the nation and people, would like to earnestly say that it is a great honour for them.
