Tatmadaw True News Information Team holds press conference through video conferencing

Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team held the Tatmadaw press conference through video conferenc-ing this afternoon and replied to queries raised by media.

First, Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained convening of the 17th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ Meeting (17th ACDFM) in the form video conference on 24 September with participation of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, holding of the 10th ASEAN Military Operations Meeting (10th AMOM) on 16 September and the 17th ASEAN Military Intelligence Meeting (17th AMIM) on 24 September, trips of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to Kengtung, Tachilek, Namsang, Taunggyi and Lashio during this month to give speeches and present cash award to Myanmar Police Force members who effectively performed anti-drug measures in Shan State, meet with leaders of ethnics and hold discussions on pave on the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement-NCA for achieving eternal peace, health situation of local people and regional development tasks in meeting with ethnic armed organizations—NDAA (Mongla) group and UWSA (Wa) group.

He also made clarifications on health care services provided by mobile medical teams of Triangle Region Command to local people and UWSA (Wa) group in Mongtung, Monghsat, Monehtaw, Monehta, Hopang, Hoywet, Monekyut and Loilam areas, assistance of the Tatmadaw for long term existence of Inlay Lake and environmental conservation of Inlay area in Nyaungshwe Township of Shan State (South) and donation of two aquatic weed harvesters.

He also explained that the Com-mander-in-Chief of Defence Services has given guidance, saying that “as no one is more important than human life, assistance is being provided as much as it can, and assistance must be strictly given for requirements of the State and the people in real time” at the coordination meeting on providing aids for pandemic COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment and fulfilling other requirements on 15 September 2020 as the Tatmadaw is accelerating the process of COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment. In accord with the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, the Tatmadaw prepared the Tatmadaw Medical Training School in Hmawby, the local training depot in Yemon, the Transit Centre in Hlaing Township and Thiri Mingala Maha Sasana Beikmandaw in Insein Township as treatment hospitals for COVID-19 positive patients as number of COVID-19 positive patients is on the rise in Yangon Region daily. Specialists, medical officers and nurses from the Tatmadaw are providing health care services to the positive patients at the treatment hospitals facilitated with hospital equipment, medicines and disease control and treatment supplies. The Tatmadaw arranges accommodation and foods for the patients by admitt-ing COVID-19 positive patients as of 25 September.

Moreover, he explained sending of specialists, medical officers, medical doctors and nurses from the Tatmadaw medical corps to COVID-19 treatment centre (Phaunggyi) in Hlegu Township in a rotation in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Sports to provide treatments, conducting tests for COVID-19 virus for people at Defence Services General Hospitals in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw, accepting quarantined civilians in COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment procedures, donations of medical supplies for COVID-19 to people’s hospitals, donations of four kinds of Tatmadaw rations to monasteries, nunneries  and  other  religious schools, war veterans, retired police members and social organizations, provision of medicines and supplies to ethnic areas, preparation of the Tatmadaw for 16 quarantine centres to accept civilians and responsibili-ties taken by the Tatmadaw for their accommodation and foods, transport of medical supplies for prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19, aid and equipment of election by aircraft of the Tatma-
daw (Air) for holding the 2020 elec-tion in Rakhine State, and partici-pation of the Myanmar Tatmadaw in the strategic general staff exer-cise KAVKAZ-2020 (Caucasus 2020) being held in Russian Federa-tion.
