SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects progress of building Maravijaya Buddha Image

As the Maravijaya Buddha Image is being carved, the park is being built and the Cetis of stone plaque chambers are being constructed in the Maravijaya Buddha Park in Dekk-hinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw in Union Territory, leading well-wisher Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected the progress of the construction this afternoon.
At the briefing hall, the Senior General, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union ministers and senior military offi-cers heard reports on placing positions for the Buddha image and conveyance of the image onto the throne by Lt-Gen Kan Myint Than of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), growing of trees and flowery plants for greening the park, construction of the religious edifices and progress of tasks by Lt-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin, and carving of Pitakat treatise literature of the 6th Buddhist Synod in Pali and Romanize Languages on the marble sto-nes with the advice of venera-ble Sayadaws, and collection of donated cash by Lt-Gen Nyo Saw respectively.
With regard to the construction task of the image, the Senior General instructed officials to systematically carry out greening tasks for environment and other measures as now is open season.
The Senior General and party sought the advice from venerable Sayadaws and viewed the video clip on construction of the Buddha image, carving of the Pitakat treatise litera-ture and building of Cetis of stone plaque chambers. They also viewed scale models of the buildings and sample Pitakat treatise book printed in Pali and Romanize languages to be published to monasteries across the world.
The Senior General and party viewed round progress of the Buddha image and the throne, completion of building the retaining walls, construction of the the stone plaque chamber and further tasks, progress of Thudhamma pu-blic rest houses and building of Mucalinda Lake.
Maravijaya Buddha Image is being built with the aim of showing firmly flourishing of Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar to the world, ensuring the country peaceful and tranquil, developing the region with the visits of local and foreign travellers to the Buddha image and contributing to he development of the State. The marble rock was checked by X-ray in 2018 to know the possible measures, volume and faults, and the measures to carve the enight of the image and throne were estimated. The marble rocks were conveyed from Sagyin Hill in Madaya Township to Sameikkhon Port by shipping and then to Nay Pyi Taw by modular trailers along the Mandalay-Yangon Expressway amid the difficul-ties. On arrival at Nay Pyi Taw, the marble rocks are being carved in advanced technology with the use of CNC machine by experts day and night.
Many religious edifices in-cluding the Sasana Beikman which can accommodate 1,200 members of the Sangha and laypersons at the religious ceremonies are being constructed in the compound of the Buddha park while the Buddha image is being carved. According to the advice of venerable Sayadaws, Pitakat treatise literature in line with the 6th Budhdist Synod are being carved on the marble slabs in Pali and Romanize languages with the use of modern machinery to enable the world to know the treatises. The carved Tri Pitakat treatise of the Lord Buddha and Atthakatha Tika treatises are posted in front of the Buddha image for enablingthe pilgims to know these treatises in the stone plaque chamber while visiting the Buddha image. Upon completion of the Buddha image, it would be the largest and highest carved marble sitting Buddha statue not only in Myanmar but in the global countries.
