PDF terrorists launch terrorist attacks in Pazigyi Village, Kanbalu Township, and Magyikan Village, Myaing Township, by using village monasteries, schools, dispensaries and homes as cover; security forces launching anti-terrorism operations in accord with Rules of Engagement-ROE

Acting on exact information about place and time provided by local people who were against terrorism, Tatmadaw launched a limited air attack against the PDF terrorists’ plan to hold an opening ceremony of their terrorist HQ, the NUG office, near Pazigyi Village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, on 11 April. A comprehensive news about the incident already appeared in Stateowned dailies and TV channels both in Myanmar and English on 13 April.

From 23 March to 8 April, Tatmadaw launched operations against KIA battalion 12 and PDF terrorists in the surrounding areas of Manwein, Sitha, Mankha, Sithaung, Simulay, Simugyi, Tonkauk, Ywathitkon and Namln villages where they were trying to set up the eastern HQ of NUG terrorist group on the eastern bank of Ayeyawady River. During the operation, Tatmadaw seized enemy bodies and arms and ammunition. Tatmadaw also found enemy bunkers, firing holes and planted mines at monasteries, schools, rural dispensaries and houses in the villages.

Local provided information about the arrival of KIA and PDF reinforcements in Pazigyi Village and the nearby villages for further terrorist attacks. But the terrorists had to flee in disarray to the north when Tatmadaw columns carrying out security duties in the areas battled against them on 20 April.

When security forces conducted a thorough check on the areas, they found bodies of four terrorists near the wall of monastery, two magazines, five 40mm shells, sand-bag bankers, a communication ditch, firing holes, seven motorcycles, huts, ten 12 volt rounds near the school fence, on mine detector, three large batteries, Guerrilla uniforms, and other accessories near the schoolfence.

Acting on local’s tip off about the arrival of PDF terrorists in the surrounding areas of Magyikan Village, Myaing Township, Magway Region, security forces went to the areas and crushed them on 18 and 19 April. Some of the officers and other ranks were wounded in the engagements. Security forces captured ten assorted M-22 magazines, 18 Chinese-made grenades, four bomb shells of various types, 30 rounds of 12 volt guns, 600 5.56mm rounds, 100 7.62mm rounds, 50 rifle bullets, four cars of different types, 20 motorcycles of different types, Guerrilla uniforms, and accessories in the rural clinic, eight homemade launchers, 46 assorted home-made mines, four eightviss packs of gunpowder, two laptops, and accessories in the village homes.

Local people’s information matched the ground situation recorded by security forces. As per the facts of local information, terrorists actually set up bankers, firing holes at monasteries, schools, dispensaries and laid mines and obstacles around the villages. Terrorist took local villagers together with them and used them as human shield in the battles. Whenever a hostage villager was killed they tried to tarnish the reputation of Tatmadaw through the media.

Some of the security forces discharging duties at Myakantha Village administrator’s office in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region, were killed in a drive-by shooting launched by terrorists in the disguised of monks on 20 April.

The act of attacking security forces in the guise of robe-wearing monks, revered by the great majority of people, has tarnished the country’s international image and saddened people’s heart.

Turning a blind eye to perpetual peace, aspired by the people and Tatmadaw, PDF under the support of armed self-seeker insurgents, were attacking security forces and coercing the local people in faraway places and setting up sand-bag bankers, firing holes at village monasteries, schools, dispensaries and laying mines in the nearby areas. They committed evil acts against Buddhist pagodas, monasteries, monks and nuns. They were loathsome as they use the holy robes in launching terrorist attacks and commit a war crime by using locals as human shield. People who abhor them are sending information to security forces at every opportunity.

Security forces are launching limited operations in crushing the lawless terrorist groups that are intimidating and killing the people to protect public lives and property. The security forces are acting in accord with the rules of engagement (ROE). Moreover, they will continue to join hands with the people in protecting the life and property of the latter.
