SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win pays homage to remains of SSMNC Chairman Bhamo Sayadaw, inspects preparations for final rites ceremony

    Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Bhamo Monastery in Mahanwesin Ward of Mahaaungmye Township in Mandalay Region Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, aged 94, vasa 74, passed away at 11:11 pm on 25 May(Thursday), 7th waxing of Nayon,  1385 ME.

As the remains of the Sayadaw is kept at Bhamo Monastery for public obeisance, the Vice-Senior General together with SAC members Dr Kyaw Tun and Khun San Lwin, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region U Myo Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Central Command and officials, paid homage to the remains of Sayadaw this morning.

First, the Vice-Senior General also paid homage to the remains of the Bhamo Sayadaw. Then, the Vice-Senior General paid obeisance to State Ovadacariy Presiding Patron of Mandalay’s Masoeyein Taikthit Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Vasettha Bhivamsa and members of the Sangha, supplicated preparations for holding the final rites of the Bhamo Sayadaw and coordinated necessary measures.

The Vice-Senior General and party took the Five Precepts from the Presiding Patron of Masoeyein Taikthit Monastery and offered alms to members of the Sangha. After listening to a sermon, they all shared merits gained.

The Vice-Senior General and party led by the venerable Sayadaws recited three verses of Samvega as Aniccavata Sankhara. Next, Vice-Senior General and party offered day meals to members of the Sangha.

The Vice-Senior General inspected preparations for the final rites ceremony of Bhamo Sayadaw, the route for conveying the remains of the Sayadaw, cremation process, construction of the incineration chamber and the plan to set ashes adrift into the water and fulfilled the requirements.

The final rites ceremony of the Sayadaw which will commence at 2 pm on 6 June and ashes will be set adrift into the water at 5.30 am on 7 June will be broadcast live on MRTV HD Channel, MRTV Farmers’ Channel, MRTV Parliament Channel, MWD HD Channel, MWD Variety HD Channel, Maha Bawdi Channel and Buddha Channel.
