State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar holds 2023 Kathina robe-offering ceremony

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the 2023 Kathina robeoffering ceremony of the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at Sasana Maha Beikman in the precinct of Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw this morning and offered Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha.
Present at the ceremony were 27 members of the Sangha led by Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamabyan Buddhist Learning Centre Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, Vice Chairman of the SSMNC Presiding Patron of Thiho Pariyatti Buddhist Learning Centre of Kyaukme Agga Maha Pandita Dr Bhaddanta Candanasara, Ovadacariya Sayadaws of the Uppatasanti Pagoda Board of Trustees.
The Senior General and wife were accompanied by the Council Secretary, the Joint Secretary and wife, Council members and their wives, Union level officials, Union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials.
First, the Senior General paid homage to the Buddha image in the Sasana Maha Beikman and offered the alms in the emerald alms-bowl, flowers, water, oil lights and fruits. The Senior General and congregation viewed round the display of Kathina robes, alms and Padethabins to be donated to Maha Wizitayon Monastery in Zabuthiri Township. The ceremony was opened with three-time recitation of Namo Tassa.
The Senior General and congregation took the Five Precepts from Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw and listened to recitation of Metta Sutta by members of the Sangha.
The Senior General and wife donated Kathina robes and offertories to Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw, Kyaukme Sayadaw and Abbot of Maha Wizitayon Monastery Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ñanuttara of Zabuthiri Township respectively.
The SAC Secretary, the Joint Secretary and wife, Council members and their wives, Unionlevel persons, Union ministers and senior military officers offered Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha.
The Sayadaw of Ngwetaung Tawya Monastery in Tatkon and the Sayadaw of Ohntaw Monastery in Pyinmana staged the Question and Answer session about Kathina robe offering ceremony. The Senior General and congregation listened to a sermon delivered by Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw and shared merits gained.
The ceremony concluded with three-time recitation of Buddha Sasanam Ciram Titthatu. After the ceremony, the Senior General, wife and congregation offered day meals to members of the Sangha led by Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw. At today’s ceremony, they donated 50 Padethabins and Ks 90,158,500, which totally amounted to Ks-136,714,600.
