Nursing and medical support is the main duty of the medical corps, and it helps enhance the defence power of Tatmadaw in a way. The nursing staffs have to provide every patient with necessary care and treatment in accord with the instructions.

They must also maintain and protect the medical equipment and machines for long-term use.

In the practical field, nurses need to apply treatment methods and medical equipment with skill and special care in accord with their trained qualifications. They must also get in touch with ever advancing nursing techniques and medical equipment.

Forging the spirit of nursing is of great importance for a basic good nurse. If they have basic nursing spirit such as mercy, consideration, honesty and sacrifice, they can dutifully serve their assignments in any places. Behaviors of a good nurse can reduce a half of sufferings of patient. So, nurses have to follow nursing ethics on friendly relations, helping, honesty, patience, politeness and compassion. As nursing service is the most basic and important for the health sector, they all have to carefully serve their duties in line with the nursing ethics and spirit aligned with the theme of the Medical Corps “goodwill, compassion

and prevention of disease”.

Being pharmacists, they have to study parts of herbal plants for the sake of the health of humans. They have to seek the best potent and therapies of physical and chemical properties of herbal plants. In so doing, they have to understand handling of the medical equipment with skillfulness. Pharmacists are to serve duties of preserve medicines and provide them to patients without damage.

They need to try hard to become skillful persons in western medical science as well as traditional medical science by raising health awareness to Tatmadaw families and people and providing medical treatments to them. Moreover, they must be skillful in systematically using the medicines and related equipment. In this regard, these medicines and they must use traditional medicines and modern medical science properly depending on time and location.

If so, they can implement the theme of the Medical Corps to be healthy, fit and to fight and they can be recorded as good medical service personnel who can serve missions of the corps at full capacity.

In so doing, they, being good members of Medical Corps need to study advancement of modern medical techniques and serve treatment, disease prevention and health promotion as well as rehabilitation of patients with goodwill without discrimination.

It can be seen that members of Medical Corps had participated in independence struggle with excellent performances and during the period from the post-independence era to date with serving the state duties in respective sector. They participated in giving health care services to the Tatmadaw members, families and people not only in ordinary time but in time of disasters. They provide healthcare services to the people at military hospitals and medical battalions. Moreover, they made utmost efforts in medical treatment for the people in mobile medical services after 2010. Not only mobile special medical teams but local medical teams of relevant military commands are giving healthcare to the local people.

The primary duty of medical services is a process of saving life of other in time. So, it is a career for them to have the great noble merit. With regard patients, all members of Medical Corps have to give medical treatments to the patients in line with the ethics, visions and duties, showing their excellent members of Medical Corps and fine traditions of the Tatmadaw.

The State Administration Council during the period of serving the State responsibilities is placing an emphasis on peace and stability of the state, socioeconomic development, forging endurable peace for the whole nation, and building the Union based on democratic system and federalism. In so doing, the government is implementing the two political visions: strengthening disciplined genuine multi-party democratic system and building the Union based on democratic system and federalism. To do so, all ethnics do not have to disintegrate among them in the country and give a help hand to each other in order to emerge a Union based on democratic system and federalism with Union spirit. As ours is a country that is established under the union system in its nature, national unity is essential and vitalization of the union spirit is of utmost importance and necessity for unity among national races.

As the Tatmadaw is a part of the state, Tatmadaw personnel are a part of the people. As the strength of the country lies within, the union must be safeguard based on united strength of the people. In doing so, our three main national causes such as non-disintegration of the union, non-disintegration of national solidarity and perpetuation of sovereignty must be safeguard with union spirit in line with historical lessons. For no disintegration of the union, ideologies, perceptions, beliefs and convictions of the entire people must be based on the union spirit. Therefore, it is necessary for all to mobilize the people for vitalization of the union spirit and national unity in respective areas where you are assigned duties.

The lifeline of the Tatmadaw is discipline. As Tatmadaw personnel are those who live under the command of the Tatmadaw, in which orders and discipline are main pillars, it is necessary for all to respect and observe orders and instructions issued.

Moreover, Tatmadaw personnel are required to strictly follow military code of conduct in the same way as sarongs are worn tightly. Only then, will one be outstanding personnel who is disciplined and ethical and will the Tatmadaw be a disciplined army which can be relied upon by the people.

Moreover, as you have led the life of a Tatmadaw personnel of your own volition, you are required to perform any duty you are assigned to responsibly through thick and thin based on sympathy out of camaraderie, which means affection, attachment and loyalty among personnel.

You are required to comply with military and civilian laws and medical and ethical codes as personnel of the medical corps.

To be outstanding personnel, the most important thing for each personnel is to undergo training to enhance three capabilities such as military capability, administrative capability and organizational capabilities.

Therefore, you will be outstanding nursing and medical professional personnel who can be relied upon by the country and the Tatmadaw if you meet three capabilities and five fundamental qualities and abide by nine nurses’ pledges.
