The designation of the anniversary day was based on 15 February 1946 on which its name was changed.

MRTV is a media center which has the longest history in Myanmar and fine historical traditions. It has been dutiful towards the State and people throughout the successive periods and is developing in alignment with advancing technology and techniques. Hence, it has proudly observed the 78th anniversary as a historical landmark.

Analogue Switch Off-ASO would be declared in three retransmission stations in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay which are under the pilot project of ASEAN Analogue Switch Off-ASO agreement. Of the 18 channels of Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial (DVB-T2) system, High Definition (HD) Quality system would broadcast 11 channels from just two channels and Direct To Home (DTH) would broadcast 19 channels from seven channels.

Apart from TV and radio programs, MRTV’s broadcast media involves the online  idea or the new media, as it is popularly known and used, as it is also presenting a lot of posts on its Social Media Platform including MRTV Application.

Now, MRTV is a young, dynamic and smart channel, which is the reformation of the Ministry of Information. It must be said that efforts are being made to implement the new state-of the- art media model. The three original objectives—to provide information to share knowledge and to entertain— are being realized on television in various ways. So, it is a great pleasure to see that all the staff are actively participating in all aspects of big occasions and events.

In addition, it has been seen that public relations activities are being extensively carried out such as going to the frontline battlefields for Tatmadaw members who are serving their national defense and security duties to entertain and improve their morale, providing entertainment for the civil servants attending the Civil Service University and going to recreation centers to make the outstanding students on whom the State can rely for its future will happy and relaxed.

Regarding ethnicities, MRTV can broadcast in a total of 20 languages, including 18 ethnic languages. It is also unique in the international arena and it is proud to be a broadcasting media organization that is providing services to all indigenous people born in the Union.

The State Administration Council is assuming responsibilities for the sake of the country and the people according to the Constitution (2008) following the 2020 electoral fraud. In accordance with the will of the people, the two national goals prosperity and food security and the two political goals the strengthening of a true and disciplined multi-party democratic system and the establishment of a union based on democracy and federalism are being implemented. To achieve these goals, future plans and objectives are also being established.

In doing so, the most important requirement is to ensure peace and stability and see no disturbances.

It is known to all that today, the country is seeing internal and external instigations. There is no peace and stability and people getting into trouble in some areas due to some depraved media outlets that lacks ethics and is pushing the country into the abyss, some organizations that do not have knowledge and consideration of the situation and actual events, and the ethnic armed groups. Because these subversive actions are very dangerous for the country, all the people should know and understand, and respond to fake news, broadcasting and presenting true news.

In this way, awareness can be raised.

In working on the benefit of the country and the people, just as the former employees of MRTV have fulfilled their responsibilities in their successive times, the new generation employees must also continue to fulfill their historic responsibilities faithfully for the perpetuality of the Union of Myanmar.

Along with the history of the country, MRTV, which has fulfilled its responsibility to the country and the people throughout the ages, has adopted a new vision of public service activities in accordance with the changing technologies. It needs to make efforts to create new forms of productions and present them more innovatively.

At the same time, efforts should be made to make it look like a big flower garden with all kinds of flowers blooming, where good artists and professionals are produced and to become the fourth estate of Myanmar, serving the nation and the country that the people rely on.

For all the ethnic people living in the Union of Myanmar as well as the people of Myanmar who are in foreign countries, efforts need to be made to disseminate Knowledge. It is also necessary to make a lasting impression in the hearts of both national and global citizens.

From its 78th anniversary, the Senior General said he wished MRTV a greater success, a long-term existence and a good reputation for many centuries.

After that, the Senior General presented the MRTV staff with an honorary award and cash rewards for their perfect participation in the state-level events. The Union Minister for Information received them.

Afterwards, the Senior General present an honorary flower basket to the artists and musicians.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected the information and broadcasting operations in the MRTV and gave necessary instructions over reports of the union minister for information and officials from respective sectors.

Afterward, the Senior General and party enjoyed the tea party commemorating the 78th Anniversary of the MRTV together with MRTV staff cordially before posing for documentary photographs with attendees.

The MRTV is the first broadcasting enterprise in Myanmar and broadcasting programs in accordance with the objective to inform, educate and entertain.

Plans are underway to end the use of the system phase by phase. Under the DVB T2 system currently used by the MRTV, the MRTV-HD and MRTV-News are being broadcast and plans are underway to air another nine MRTV-owned and related channels in HD quality, totaling 11 channels.

Instead of broadcasting 7 TV channels at the MRTV DTH Platform, plans are underway to add 12 private channels, totaling 18 channels.
