Yuan-Kyat direct trade allowed in Sino-Myanmar border areas

The use of Yuan or Kyat in the bilateral transaction is officially allowed in the border areas between Myanmar and China in a bid to encourage trade, according to the notification released by the Central Bank of Myanmar on 14 December.

In exercise of the power conferred by sections 17 and 22 of the Foreign Exchange Management Law, the CBM released this notification.

Rubber price from Homalin drips

The prices of rubber from Homalin Township, Sagaing Region dropped in these days, said Daw Su Su Htway, head of the Homalin Township Agriculture Department.

“Rubber price earlier fetched K1,010 per pound. The price of rubber has dropped to K980 per pound at present. The price has somewhat plunged. The domestic rubber market slightly declined as the global rubber market downturn. But, the growers expected that the price will be upright again. The domestic rubber price is positively related to the global market,” said Daw Su Su Htway.

Thazi township grows about 25 acres of winter sunflower cultivation for seed production

About 25 acres of winter sunflower for seed production have been cultivated in Thazi Township, Mandalay Region to boost the edible oil production, said Daw Moe Moe Ngwe, the township manager of Thazi Township Agriculture Department.

8th  Asia-Europe Education Ministers’ Meeting held

The 8th Asia-Europe Meeting of Education Ministers was chaired by the Thai Ministry of Education at 3 pm yesterday and Education Ministers and officials from 47 countries in Asia and Europe, Deputy minister for Education Dr Zaw Myint and the directors-general attended the meeting.

First, Minister of Education of Thailand Mr Treenuch Thienthong gave a welcome address at the meeting.
