Action taken against more than 30 lottery distributors in January

Action was taken against more than 30 lottery distributors who violated rules and regulations, according to Aungbarlay Lottery Division. Action was taken against 37 lottery distributors who sold tickets at higher prices than they were permitted or violated the terms of agreements between them and the division.

The division fined more than Ks-30 million on them and the money will be confiscated as the government funds. “Lottery distributors are requ-ired to make advance payments  for tickets they propose to buy. We deducted the fines from their advance payments for each month they violate terms of the agree-ment between us and them,” said an official from the lottery division.

Moreover, the division had to revoke the purchase agreements for more than 60,000 lottery  ticket booklets. Relevant township internal revenue departments are inspecting lottery shops that sell tickets at higher prices than they are permitted. As the demand for lottery tickets is growing, distributors are selling lottery  tickets  at  Ks-1,300  per ticket.  The  government  issues lottery tickets to distributors at Ks-900 per ticket.
