With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, plans are under-way to use the National University of Arts and Culture in South Dagon Township, Yangon, as a quarantine centre if necessary.
“We have visited the National University of Arts and Culture to decide whether it is possible to be used as a quarantine centre. We are looking for places to be used as quarantine centres. We do not have enough facilities for quarantine. We have already sent two people from South Dagon Town-ship to Phaunggyi,” said Regional Parliament Representative U Nyi Nyi of South Dagon Township. Relevant authorities including members of the Yangon City Development Committee, Regional Health Department and South Dagon Township Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 visited the university on 3 September in order to examine whether it is possible to use it as a quarantine centre. Currently, there is no person quarantined at the university. Authorities are looking at other places to be used as quarantine centres for people who have contacts with COVID-19 patients as the number of cases is rising.
