Daily imports of anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products continue

THE Ministry of Commerce  is making efforts to ensure people have access  to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen  cylinders, by arranging continuous importation through trading posts, international airport  and seaports with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

On 30 October, anti-COVID- 19 equipment, medical products including  oxygen plants and concentrators were imported by three companies and transported by five vehicles.

A total of 1,920 empty oxygen tanks, two oxygen generators, and 12 tonnes of masks were imported via Chinshwehaw trading posts. From 1 to 30 October, 333tonnes of liquid oxygen carried by 186 bowsers, two oxygen storage containers, three oxygen distributors, 19,271 empty oxygen tanks, 47 oxygen plants, four oxygen refilling machines, 32 oxygen generators, 2,739 oxygen concentrators, 15,105 test kits, 250,175 PPE suits, 116 tonnes of gloves and 737 tonnes of masks were imported by 86 companies.In the same period, 14 liquid oxygen were transported to Yangon and three to Mandalay respectively. Out of 47 oxygen plants, 33 to Yangon, two to Myitkyina, two to Kume, another two to Loikaw and one each to Mandalay, Homalin, Kyonedo,

Sinbaungwe, Minton, Thayat, Salin and Pwintbyu.

Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including online registration for the import process.

It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with relevant departments, treatment of COVID-19, as well as contact persons for inquiries can be reached through the Ministry’s Website—www.commerce.gov. mm.
