All shops except those selling essential foodstuffs and medicine in markets in townships under the stay-home order in Yangon Region will not be allowed to open. Therefore, shops that sell other commodities in relevant townships will have to be closed temporarily. “The measure will be taken in all townships under the stay-home order. If townships are completely locked down, it would be very difficult for the public. So, we eased restrictions. We received the order late. We have informed shopkeepers and the arrangement will start within one or two days. They need time for preparations,” said Chairman Ko Aung Myo Lin of Tamwe Township Development Affairs Committee. Therefore, the relevant market authorities are informing shopkeepers of the closure order. “Shops in my township have been told to close. We will allow greengrocery and foodstuff shops to open in markets. All other shops must be closed,” said Regional Parliament Representative U Hla Htay from Mingalar Taungnyunt Township. However, time restrictions have not been imposed in markets as this may lead to the gathering of a lot of people in markets. The restrictions must be imposed in townships under the stay-home order including Hlaingthaya, Mayangon, Kamayut, Sanchaung, Kyimyindine, Ahlon, Kyauktada, Botahtaung, Mingalar Taungnyunt, Tamwe, Yankin, North Dagon, South Dagon, South Okka-lapa, Dagon, East Dagon, Bahan, Dagon Seikkan, Lanmadaw, Dawbon, Hlegu, Insein, Mingaladon, Thaketa, Thingangyun, Pazundaung, North Okkalapa, and Hlaing town-ships.
