South Okkalapa in Yangon opens 50-bed quarantine centre

South Okkalapa Township in Yangon Region opened a quarantine centre on 15 this month as a virus prevention and containment measure under the supervision of the Town-ship COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Emergency Response Commi-ttee. 

The quarantine centre is opened at the two-storey hostel for Yogis in the compound of Okkalapa Pagoda in the township in the eastern part of Yangon. The centre will house the resident close contacts.

The hall on the upper floor of the hostel will keep 22 persons (only males) under the six-feet social distancing rules, and the ground floor will keep two persons each at its 14 two-bed rooms, totaling 28. The gross accommodation capacity on both floors of the new quarantine centre is 50.  

The centre will provide all the essential requirements such as drinking water supply, beds, nets, pillows, mobile chargers and wifi. Families of the quarantined persons should deliver food on the days food donors are absent. But, the centre now has food donors for eight days, according to the Township Development Affairs Committee. 

Snacks, bottled water, soft drinks, foodstuff and other donations can be made directly at the control department in front of the quarantine centre. The centre is formed with a 60-member quarantine centre group comprising eight persons from Ward 7, eight persons from Ward 10, 24 persons from Ward 13, two persons from Ward 14, and six persons from Ward 5, totaling 48; and six volunteer doctors and six members of the outer ring security, totaling 12.
