IDPs return to Kayah State as areas calm down

Nay Pyi Taw, JANUARY  24

PDF terrorists and some members of KNPP in Kayah State have been  identified and arrested by security forces as clashes broke out in January,  and innocent people from the area, including from Loikaw, were fleeing away the fighting to safer areas.

Security forces have regained control of the area since 22 January and the area has returned to normal, with markets reopening and trading peacefully.

Pilgrims regularly visit pagodas and other religious temples.

In addition, the security forces coordinated with the relevant organizations  as necessary for the resettlement of the displaced people. Among the IDPs, 314 people from Loikaw and surrounding villages returned to their homes on 22 and 23 January.

It is reported that the relevant authorities have systematically accepted them and are providing necessary assistance.
