In his address, the Senior General said as regards the international relations, as Myanmar is an independent and sovereign country, international relations is of importance.

Myanmar is standing tall among the global countries in line with the policy mentioned in the Section 41 of the 2008 constitution:

The Union practises independent, active and nonaligned foreign policy aimed at world peace and friendly relations with nations and upholds the principles of peaceful coexistence among nations. With regard to the international relations, Myanmar stood as a neutral country with the independent and active foreign policy and it participated in the non-aligned movement group.

Being a member state of the United Nations, Myanmar joined the international relations at the highest level.

With regard to the international relations in the region, Myanmar joined the ASEAN in 1997.

Myanmar has been maintaining the good relations with five neighbouring countries. As they are close to the border and they are neighbouring countries without right of choice, it is necessary to improve the bilateral relations and forge good relations. In so doing, Myanmar is realizing the best relations in line with the foreign policies mentioned in the Section 41 of the Constitution (2008). Myanmar representative office is opened at the UN and ambassadors are appointed in global countries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking responsibilities for international relations. It is necessary to emphasize the international relations as the functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs much affect the international relations arena of Myanmar.

The filing of the Gambia against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice started from the neighbouring country relations concerning with Bangladesh. It is a problem triggered in the colonial era. These immigration problems reached the filing at the ICJ.

The Gambia as a representative filed against Myanmar.

Officials of Myanmar strived for responding to the filing under the firm legal documents. The incorrect accusations were used to discredit the countryand  encroach on the Tatmadaw.

The Tatmadaw is to defend the State and protect the life and property of the people. With regard to the events before 1948, Myanmar, which had not regained the Independence yet served the interests of the rulers, causing loss to the people and the nation. In the early post-independence period, powerful big countries posed threats to the small and powerless country. Hence, all are making efforts for building the nation to be powerful.

When the Myanmar delegation faced the legal procedure at the ICJ, efforts were made to collect the strength for it.

Presentations representing Myanmar at the International Court of Justice much fortified the nation with strength. So, the Senior General praised all officials for their endeavours.

Successful undertaking of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the international relations as the primary function can reflect the further strengthening of leading role in national politics.

Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing and Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Attorney-General of the Union Dr Thida Oo who attended the presentation bof the preliminary objections to the ICJ in The Hague of the Netherlands clarified their legal pleadings in detail at the ICJ.

Secretary of the Committee Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin reported on issues related to the foreign policy and measures for decisions.

Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing and the joint secretary of the committee presented the letters of offer whereas the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs reviewed the Russia-Ukraine conflicts.

In his conclusion, the Senior General stressed the need to turn out human resources related to international law for the country, to make preparations for how the ICJ adopts decisions for the issue of the Gambia and exercise the foreign policy of Myanmar in the international issues.
