PDF terrorists crushed and driven out from Singu, security and territorial control operations underway
Nay Pyi Taw July 20
Starting in early July 2024, terrorists under the banner of the PDF infiltrated Singu Township, Mandalay Region, in full force. They attacked security outposts around Singu town, raided the township police station, and other security locations.
Subsequently, these PDF terrorists were committing terrorist acts such as kidnapp-ing and killing locals, extorting money, burning government buildings to halt the administrative machinery, planting mines, plundering homes of dis-placed residents and destroying their belongings.
Their terrorizing acts forced many local civilians and govern-ment employees to flee Singu town. Unable to tolerate these destructive actions, local resi-dents from Singu and nearby villages formed village and town defence groups for their own security. The Tatmadaw also coordinated with these defence groups to prepare and carry out a counter-terrorism operation.
Following these preparations, on July 19, Tatmadaw columns launched a systematic counter-terrorism operation from land and river in Singu, gaining foothold gradually through aerial and artillery supporting fire. As a result, the terrorists retreated, and the Tatmadaw successfully regained control of Singu town.
During their occupation, PDF terrorists used religious build-ings, schools, government offices, and homes as cover for their attacks, and also planted mines on public routes and used civilians as human shields. However, security forces con-tinued to stick to the rules of engagement- ROE.
The organized response by security forces, including air and artillery support, led to the retreat of terrorists, who continued their destructive acts by burning buildings and planting mines while fleeing.
Security forces are now con-tinuing essential security and territorial control operations in Singu and surrounding areas.
