Ceremony to honor students who passed the 2024 matriculation examination with distinction in all subjects was held at MICC-2 here this morning.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and presented honorary awards to them.
Also present at the ceremony together with the Senior General were SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, the SAC Joint Secretary, SAC members, union-level officials, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, rectors, principals, parents and officials.
First, students staged a song “Let’s honor the distinction winners”. The Senior General and attendees enjoyed it.
In his address, the Senior General said knowledge provides wisdom that can differentiate between the good and the bad and understand the cause and effect. The nation can establish a true force that can serve the country’s interest only if the intelligence level of all the citizens is high.
The work of upgrading of a comprehensive education sector that can generate human resources imbued with academic and technological knowledge, intrinsic qualities and ability must be prioritized in building a Union based on genuine and disciplined democracy and federalism. In this regard, the government adopted a social objective -- To implement a multi-education system that addresses all segments of society, nurturing intellectual and intelligent capacities among the entire population and producing a significant pool of skilled technicians crucial for the manufacturing sector in its five-point roadmap and nine objectives, and is carrying out the education undertakings that ensure equal educational opportunities for every citizen with full force.
All the officials and participants who dutifully and resolutely serve the national duty develop the country through education are recognized.
It is true that the government must be the vanguard of the Union’s multiple and equal development, but the collective force of the entire people will ensure its longterm development.
Here greater attention must be on the strength of the students that represent one third of the country’s population.
During the previous years, outstanding students could be awarded only at the region/state level and department level. This year’s ceremony is the first to honor them at the State level.
Every one of the 507 all-subject distinction winners would be duly honored with 50 kyattha gold coins today.
SAC arranged a domestic trip for students who scored highest marks in the subject wise categories in 2022 with the aim of providing them with regional knowledge and the spirit to love and value their country and race and also a foreign trip to gain international knowledge. The program provides the new generation youths with mental strength and greater academic enthusiasm.
Arrangements are underway to send 30 students who scored highest marks in subject-wise categories in the matriculation examination abroad for a study trip this year.
The students at the ceremony will have to begin their higher education studies as they have completed their basic education.
They must wisely choose the academic subject and the branch of vocational education they are truly interested in.
The classroom can only give knowledge of perception. Students must not be satisfied with this level. They must continue their studies through hard work to become valued human resources and experts who have great wisdom.
In line with the motto “The strength of the nation lies within”, undertaking the development tasks of the country require intellectuals and intelligentsia in arts and science world. Hence, youths have to emphasize studying both arts and science subjects.
Myanmar is preserving traditional cultural heritages. All citizens are responsible for safeguarding nationality, language, religion and education as the national cause.
All youths including prize winners need to exercise selfishness in harmony with charity.
They have to improve themselves and culture the spirit of carrying out public welfare and nation-building endeavors as much as they can.
Students need to harmonize knowledge and technology in implementing their missions and visions. In accord with a saying that knowledge can be found in literature, they have to read. They must review all incidents and events in their environment with correct attitudes and avoid wrong doings.
Currently, they need to notice that digital technology can create everything. As such, they need to constantly study digital technology. If so, Myanmar will have the capacity to keep abreast of other global countries.
Youths need to follow prescribed disciplines and laws to achieve success in their lives. Only when they abide by disciplines and laws adopted by the government will become valuable citizens without sins for serving the nation.
In giving guidance to the prize-winning students, the Senior General urged them to sustain success along their lives, build their lives with knowledge and technology, try hard to uplift their capability to analyze true and false as well as goodness and badness following the prescribed disciplines and forging the spirit so as to be matured, and participate in development undertakings of the State by safeguarding the nation.
The Senior General presented individual prizes to 11 students who scored the highest marks in science combination with flying color.
The Vice-Senior General gave prizes to 10 all-distinction winning students.
The Joint Secretary presented individual prizes to 10 all distinction winners whereas SAC members, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, union-level dignitaries and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief handed prizes to all-distinction winner students respectively.
A female student, on behalf of the outstanding students with all distinctions in the 2024 matriculation examination, spoke words of thanks.
Students performed performance with the song with title of “Outstanding youth” and “Myanmar’s school”. The Senior General and attendees enjoyed their entertainments.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and party posed for documentary photos together with 31 students with the highest marks across the nation, and the Senior General cordially greeted all attendees.
The Senior General and party had a lunch in honor of the outstanding students who passed the matriculation exam 2024 with flying color.
