Finals of 2024 inter-state/region (men’s and women’s) volleyball tournaments and prize-giving ceremony held; Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing gave away prizes

Finals of the 2024 inter-state/region (men’s and women’s) volleyball tourneys and prizegiving ceremony were held at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium C this morning attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who also gave prizes.

Present together with the Senior General were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC members, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander in Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, managers, coaches and athletes of regions and states, ministry officials and staff, officials of Myanmar Volleyball Federation, sports enthusiasts.

The women’s final match between Yangon Region and Mandalay was held and the two finalists put pressures on one another till the end of the match which ended in 3-0 in Mandalay Region’s favour.

At the men’s final, Shan State beat Kayin State 3-1 in the tough game.

At the prize-presentation ceremony, Union Minister at SAC Chairman’s Office 2 U Ko Ko Hlaing, SAC members U Yan Kyaw and U Shwe Kyein presented cash awards and women’s best player awards to the winners, and SAC members U Khun San Lwin, Dr Ba Shwe and Dr Hmu Htan, cash awards and men’s best player awards to the winners.

SAC member U Poe Reh Aung Thein presented joint third prize and cash awards to Shan State and Kachin State women’ teams, Daw Dwe Bu, joint third prize and cash awards to Mandalay Region and Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw men’ teams, and SAC member Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, second prizes and cash awards to Yangon Region women’s team and Kayin State men’s team.

The SAC Joint Secretary presented individual medals to women’s firstprize winner Mandalay Region and men’s firstprize winner Shan State teams.

The Senior General presented cash awards and championship trophies to Shan State men’s team and Mandalay Region women’s team and cordially greeted the volleyball players.

The volleyball tournaments were held from 7 to 16 May at Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium C with the aim of cementing friendship among players from states and regions, producing new generation national selections, and improving the country’s volleyball standard. All together 13 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams from states and regions took part in the matches.
