Chairman of National Natural Disaster Management Committee Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win inspects damage at Naypyitaw State Academy

Chairman of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, along with committee Vice Chairmen and member Union Ministers, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Command, and other officials, visited Naypyitaw State Academy this afternoon to inspect the damage caused by the recent earthquake.
Initially, they examined the condition of the postgraduate and administrative main building, the medical education build-ing, the business education building, two arts and sciences education buildings, and the social and business studies building. The inspection reveal-ed that the main columns and beams remained completely undamaged, with only some plaster cracks and wall separations in certain sections. Authorities were instructed to complete repairs before the school reopens in June, and coordination with responsible officials was emphasized. Next, the vice-Senior General inspected the under-construction graduation hall and a six-story building. According to assessments by the Engineering Association, the Engineering Council, and seismology experts, no significant damage was found.
The completed and ongoing constructions within Naypyitaw State Academy were built by the Ministry of Construction in accordance with the 2020 inter-national standard operating procedures (SOP), designed to withstand a Richter scale magnitude of 7.
Consequently, the Ministry of Construction is currently rede-signing structures to withstand up to a magnitude of 8 on the Richter scale. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Construction have been direct-ed to collaborate and proceed with the necessary upgrades.
