Message from Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on occasion of  28th Anniversary of BIMSTEC

(6-6-2025, Nay Pyi Taw)

On this auspicious occasion of the 28th Anniversary of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for MultiSectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), I wish to extend, on behalf of the Peoples and Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, warmest felicitations and best wishes to the Peoples and Governments of the BIMSTEC Member States.

Twentyeight years ago, on this very day, BIMSTEC was established through the signing of the Bangkok Declaration, marking the beginning of a crucial platform aimed at accelerating economic growth and social progress in the region through joint efforts based on a spirit of equality and partnership.

I have the honour to recall, with satisfaction, my participation at the recently held Sixth BIMSTEC Summit, my engagements with the esteemed BIMSTEC leaders, the adoption of the Sixth BIMSTEC Summit Declaration, the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030 and the Rules of Procedure for BIMSTEC Mechanisms as well as the signing of the Agreement on Maritime Transport Cooperation by our ministers. I am confident that these achievements will reinvigorate the BIMSTEC process and inspire its transformation into a dynamic, results-driven organization that will deliver on the aspirations of the Member States.

BIMSTEC Day reminds us of the immense potential that lies within our region and the power of collaboration to achieve our common goals. Let us seize this opportunity to deepen our cooperation, foster mutual understanding, and promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the Bay of Bengal region and for our future generations.

Together, we can overcome common challenges and build a stronger, more resilient Bay of Bengal community.
